What exactly do I receive, and when?
A 149-page PDF and two Excel workbooks, delivered by download link immediately after payment and also emailed to you. There is no waiting period and no physical shipment.
Is this written for UK or US accounting?
The current edition is written to IFRS as adopted in the United Kingdom. Tax, employment and regulatory references are to UK law. Roughly seventy per cent of the manual — cost behaviour, forecasting, influence, career — applies anywhere. The accounting chapters do not translate cleanly to US GAAP; ASC 350-40 differs materially, particularly on hosting arrangements. If you report under US GAAP, join the US edition waitlist rather than buying this one.
Can I expense this?
In most organisations, yes. It is a professional training resource and is routinely expensed under Learning & Development or departmental training budgets. A VAT-compliant receipt is issued automatically and can carry your employer's name and address. If your finance team needs a formal invoice with a purchase order reference, write to us and we will issue one.
Do I need IT approval to use it?
No. There is no web application, no account, no login and no seat to provision. You receive files. Nothing needs to be cleared with information security, which is deliberate.
Is the price per person? Can I buy for my team?
The standard purchase is a single-user licence. Team licences for three or more people are available at a reduced per-seat price with a single consolidated invoice — write to hello@example.com with the number of seats. See the licence terms for what a single-user licence permits.
Why should I trust a book with no named author?
A reasonable question. We publish under an imprint and we compensate for it by making the work inspectable before purchase: the full 44-chapter contents are published, six real pages are shown at full resolution, and both Excel models are free with no purchase required. If the free models are not to a standard you respect, do not buy the manual. There is also a fourteen-day refund with no justification required.
Will it be updated?
Yes, and updates to your edition are free indefinitely. Part VI in particular makes dated claims about ERP timetables, sustainability reporting and AI cost practice, and those will be revised as the position moves. You will be emailed when a revision is issued.
How current is the material?
External figures were verified in August 2026 and are attributed at the point of use. Forward-looking claims carry an explicit confidence label — settled, likely or contested — so you can see which parts rest on a published date and which rest on judgement.
Is this useful if I work in FinOps rather than finance?
Yes, and Part II in particular is written with FinOps practitioners in mind. The manual supplies the finance-side fluency that the FinOps community is generally short of: capitalisation, accruals, business cases, and how to make a cost position land with a CFO. One finding from the 2026 practitioner survey is relevant here — around three-quarters of FinOps practices report into a CTO or CIO and fewer than one in ten into a CFO.
What if it is not what I expected?
Ask for a refund within fourteen days and we will process it in full. No form, no justification, no follow-up sequence. We would rather refund you than have you feel misled. See the refund policy.
Do the free Excel tools require the book?
No. They stand alone, they are complete, and they are free permanently. They reference chapters of the manual where relevant, but they work without it.
Which sectors does it cover?
Six archetypes: retail and consumer; financial services; telecoms, media and utilities; healthcare and public sector; industrial and logistics; software and SaaS. Chapter 3 helps you locate yours, and where a technique genuinely differs by sector a marked panel states the difference. Roughly seventy per cent of the manual carries no such panel because it does not need one.
